Royal Anthem of Denmark: Kong Christian stod ved højen mast
NEW REMASTERED VERSION: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJtgNQUVrZo
(Turn on Youtube subtitles for English subtitles)
Kong Christian stod ved højen mast ("King Christian stood by the lofty mast"), commonly shortened to Kong Christian, is the royal anthem of the Kingdom of Denmark. It also has equal status of national anthem together with Der er et yndigt land, though it is almost exclusively used in relation to the Danish royal house and the military. The theme of the song is about the heroics of Danish sailors during the wars against Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries.
On New Year's Eve it is tradition to sing along as the Danmarks Radio Girl's Choir sing the song on television, immediately after midnight following the other national anthem. Usually only the first verse is sung on of...

We make up Denmark
We are the Regions within

We are Denmark

Also touching the Arctic and
Atlantic Ocean’s Sing with me
I am the Region of

Largest city my region is

I am located in the Northeast
Of the country Denmark
Touching the Øresund
Across from Sweden’s where I’m parked
The Midtjylland Region
In Demarks Mid area
Largest city Aarhus
come here
We’ll take care of ya
I touch the North Sea
To my west
And the Kattegat is to my East
Keep trying to say it don’t rest
Nordjylland Region
That is my name
Largest city Aalborg
In my regional center, I claim
I’m located at the northern
Tip of Denmark Kingdom
Touching the Skagerrak
We like to have some fun
Sjælland Region
That is my regional name
My largest city is Roskilde
In my North, it has fame fame
We make up Denmark
We are the Regions within
With two Autonomous constituent countries, this is where we have been
We are Denmark
Between the Baltic, Norwegian
And the North Sea
Also touching the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean’s Sing with me
I’m the region of Syddanmark
I’m Bordering Germany
Odense is the name of my
Largest city
I am the Southernmost point
In my Scandinavian country
I’m sandwiched between the North
And the Baltic Seas
I’m the Faroe Islands
An Autonomous country
within the Kingdom of Denmark
In the Atlantic Ocean, I be
My capitals name
It goes by Tórshavn
It’s located
where this star had just spun
I am Greenland
An Autonomous country
within the Kingdom of Denmark
The worlds largest island I be
Nuuk is the name of the capital
of these gorgeous lands
I do touch the Atlantic and
The Arctic Oceans
I’m the Southern
The Scandinavian country named Denmark
My capital Copenhagen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- For today we prepared another video from the series Railway Nation in which we comprehensively discussed - the railway system of Denmark.
The reasons why we decided to do Denmark lies in the 2017 European Railway Performance Index, which includes the most comprehensive benchmarking of European railway systems. In this report, which takes into account the three critical components of railway performance - the intensity of use, quality of service, and safety - Denmark is ranked 2nd!
In addition, what makes Denmark specific is the fact that it spreads across numerous islands. More precisely, there’s an archipelago of about 440 islands, of which about 70 are inhabited.
What is also interesting about the Danish railways is the fact that the construction of railway lines there took place almost in parallel on the peninsula and on the islands, while the first connections were made possible only by ferries.
In order to enable an efficient railway connection between the railway networks located on the islands and the peninsula, marvel engineering structures had to be built in the form of complex bridges or a combination of bridges and tunnels. Some of them are the Great Belt Fixed Link, Øresund Bridge, Storstrøm, Little Belt, etc.
Due to the railway infrastructure that failed over time and the railway services that did not serve either the population or the economy, the Danish government made a political turn, and gradually set aside money with the aim of a complete settlement of the maintenance backlog and the establishment of quality infrastructure.
Furthermore, Rail Net Denmark received support to build Denmark's first 60 km long Copenhagen-Køge-Ringsted high-speed line.
Today, Danish Railways serves over 200 million passengers a year with the organization of almost a million trains with great punctuality of traffic.

Come with us for second video (2 of 2) exploring the sights of Copenhagen Denmark and staying at the characterful Villa Copenhagen hotel - with it's unique rooftop pool!
Follow us for our 2nd half of a weekend where we stay at Villa Copenhagen, a historic building with a contemporary twist including an impressive glass dome atrium. We also take a late-night swim in the hotel’s unique feature - the only rooftop pool in the city.
We spent or final day visiting key landmarks to determine what to do in Copenhagen. We started with a short walk from Tivoli Gardens past the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek museum to the island of Slotsholmen where you will find Christiansborg Palace. Here you can visit the tallest viewpoint in the city for free with the bonus of an elevator and the upscale Tårnet restaurant.
However, we chose to not climb this tower and instead crossed over the main through fare of Strøget and headed to the Rundetaarn – The Round Tower. Here we climbed the unique circular spital tower with a great viewing platform and even an observatory. After which we headed to Rosenberg Castle, home to the Danish Treasury and the food halls of Torvehallerne KBH.
After taking the Copenhagen metro to Christianshavn, we took a stroll along the waterfront back to the picturesque Nyhavn. However, we still squeezed in one last landmark with the Church of Vor Frelsers Kirke, one of the tallest viewpoints in the city with an open spiral staircase to the top!
To end of final night, we headed to our last dinner at the Michelin guide featured Høst Restaurant, featuring new Nordic cuisine. Afterwards we headed back to our hotel Villa Copenhagen for a final late-night swim in the hotel’s unique rooftop pool!

NEW REMASTERED VERSION: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJtgNQUVrZo

Usually only the first verse is sung on official occasions. Adopted in 1780, it is one of the oldest national anthems in the world.
